City of Lee’s Summit Approves MOU with John Knox Village for land to locate a new Fire Station No. 3
At its Nov. 3 meeting, the Lee’s Summit City Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding by and between the City and John Knox Village for the terms and conditions associated with the potential transfer of property located on NW Pryor Road for use as a new Fire Station No. 3.
This is a 2.28-acre plot of undeveloped land on the west side of Pryor Road.
“During our search for a station location that would meet the response requirements of our Standards of Cover document; the property at John Knox Village was at the top of our list. The City was fortunate to have a community partner that saw the need to sustain emergency services in the area and their willingness to work with us on a mutual investment in our community’s future” said City of Lee’s Summit Fire Chief Rick Poeschl.
As you are aware, Lee’s Summit voters will be asked on Tues., Nov. 8, to consider whether or not to approve a no-tax increase general obligation bond initiative to fund public safety improvements. One of those improvements includes replacing the current Fire Station No. 3 which was built in 1970 at 3rd Street and Pryor Road.
