The Communications Division operates a regional fire and emergency service communications center. The center serves as the focus for all city communications, other than police communications, and also provides communication services on a contractual basis to the Lake Lotawana, Lone Jack, Fort Osage , Sni-Valley, Western Cass, West Peculiar, and Prairie Township Fire Protection Districts. The center also serves as the Region A Communication Center for 13 counties during statewide disasters.
The Communications Division is made up of the following personnel:
- Communications Supervisor
- 4 Lead Communication Specialists
- 8 Communication Specialists
Communications personnel are trained in emergency medical dispatching which allows the individual to ask questions for the responding personnel, provide pre-arrival instructions, and provide any other information to the caller.
