Important Information Regarding Trash Service Communication

The City of Lee’s Summit received numerous telephone calls and emails today regarding information received about trash services in our community:

  • There is no ordinance related to trash service on the July 23 City Council agenda. The City Council’s consideration of the proposed flow control ordinance may be set in the future. If and when a date is set for consideration of this proposed ordinance, the public will be notified.
  • The proposed flow control ordinance does NOT impact taxes.
  • The City does NOT set rates for residential and business trash services. The City DOES set rates for disposal of trash at its Resource Recovery Park or landfill.
  • The City Council has voted not to take final action on the proposed flow control ordinance or a contract for a transfer station until a week after the request for proposal (RFP) records become open to the public.
