Most traditional valentine gifts are typically not eco-friendly or healthy (cards, chocolates, etc.), so this year, why not look for greener alternatives? Here are a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing:
A good book. If your significant other is a reader, find out what book s/he would like to read next. If your significant other is not a reader, ask a close friend for a recommendation.
A DIY project. Okay, so not everyone is the Do-It-Yourself type. But, if you or your significant other happen to be, why not work on a cool recycled project together? Something like an outdoor cafe table refurbished with a used tile mosaic top or a coffee table made of recycled materials.
An outing. This could be something elaborate, planned a month or two in advance, like a weekend getaway to Missouri wine country, a local bed & breakfast, or a local spa. Or, it could be something simple like a leisurely walk or bike ride around Longview Lake.
A quiet dinner. Again, this can be as elaborate and expensive or simple and inexpensive as you want. Enjoy a healthy meal with your loved one at a local restaurant that favors organic menu items and local, farm-raised ingredients.
