2018 State of the City

Mayor Baird will deliver the City of Lee's Summit's State of the City address Monday, September 24, 2018 at 5:15 p.m. The State of the City will take place at the B&B Theatres located at 3241 SW Fascination Dr. in New Longview. The address is open to the public.

The State of the City will be streamed live on the City's Facebook page and rebroadcast on LSTV beginning Tuesday, September 25.

Lee’s Summit residents will be able to recycle a variety of unusual items in a single location at RecycleFEST, the City’s recycling event that will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 18, in the Lee’s Summit City Hall Parking lot, 220 SE Green St.  This event is being held in celebration of America Recycles Day.

The following items can be recycled at the event:

  • Athletic shoes
  • Bicycles
  • Cell phones
  • Crayons
  • Eye glasses
  • Golf balls
  • Hearing aids
  • Keys
  • License plates
  • Pill bottles
  • Rechargeable batteries
  • Sensitive document shredding
  • Tennis balls
  • Wine corks

Residents can bring up to four paper grocery sacks of sensitive documents for shredding.  Paper clips and staples are okay, but plastic covers and binders should be removed.  The shred trucks will be available until filled.

Pill bottles should be empty and have labels removed.

The event will take place rain or shine.

If you cannot attend the event on Nov. 18, another RecycleFEST event will be offered in the spring of 2018 in celebration of Earth Day.
