The City of Lee’s Summit is pleased to announce Bette Wordelman has joined the organization as the deputy director of the Finance Department. Wordelman began working at the City on Monday, Feb. 27.

“I’m very excited to join such a top quality organization. I look forward to making positive contributions to the City as well as learning from the highly professional employees I’ve met,” said Wordelman.

Lee’s Summit City Manager Steve Arbo said, “We have been fortunate to have the long-term leadership and financial acumen of Director of Finance, Conrad Lamb. As the City continues to flourish, we find a more complex financial environment for our municipal services. Bette will be a wonderful addition to our organization and will serve as a secondary source of knowledge for our financial operations. This will allow Conrad’s energy to be assigned to key areas such as economic development and legislative matters.”

Wordelman has an extensive financial background. She was treasurer for the City of Columbia, where she managed the municipality’s investment portfolio, banking services, and revenue collections. She served in this capacity from August 1995 to September 2016.

Prior to her role in Columbia, she was finance director for the City of Jefferson City and director of investments for the Office of the Missouri State Treasurer in Jefferson City. Both positions allotted Wordelman a wealth of knowledge in the financial operations and investment programs.

She has a Master’s of Public Administration degree in Finance from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo.

She has been a member of the Government Finance Officers Association of Missouri since 1986, the Metro Rotary Club of Columbia since 1996 and a former board member of the Missouri Municipal League from 2006 to 2010.

Please join the City in welcoming Bette Wordelman to the organization!
