Second Amended Charter

While the Charter as a whole was adopted immediately upon the citizens’ vote, there were two areas where later effective dates were included in the recommendations:

·      Section 3.13.  Legislative Procedures, subsections (e) and (f), regarding the reading and approval of ordinances, to be effective July 1, 2017; and,

·      Chapter 4. Mayor, to be effective after the April 2018 election for Mayor.

In the following Charter, changes to these sections are shown in red, with a footnote containing an explanation.  The Charter will be updated again after each of the two effective dates.

Lee’s Summit Fire Department Fire Engineer Phil Hudson and Firefighter Chase Hudson are the latest to be honored with the Community Heroes recognition – a campaign to shine a well-deserved spotlight on individuals with outstanding character and achievement. The campaign is sponsored by 106.5 The Wolf and the City of Lee’s Summit.

The announcement about Phil and Chase was made Thurs., Feb. 9, during the Roger & Codie show on The Wolf.

Britny Hudson nominated her father Phil and her brother Chase because of their work dedication and for always thinking about others. Here is what she had to say in her nomination letter about these special men in her life: “Both my older brother and my dad are Lee's Summit firefighters and they are the most selfless and dedicated men I know! They love what they do and the community they do it for. They truly have their dream jobs and their passion shows. They are there for people experiencing their worst day, yet they handle these situations with grace and compassion. They are my heroes day in and day out. Firefighters or not they would do absolutely anything for their fire family as well as their blood family. The hearts they have are one in a million and that alone surpasses the courage they have as they run into a structure fire. They are my heroes every day,” said Britny.

Phil has been employed with the Lee’s Summit Fire Department since September 2014, and Chase has been on the job since June 2016.

Besides the recognition associated with the Community Heroes honor, Phil and Chase will share a $100 gift card to Jack Stack Barbecue in Lee’s Summit, which is courtesy of the Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce.

Congratulations to Lee’s Summit’s Community Heroes Phil and Chase Hudson!
