Beginning Monday November 2, 2009 Lee’s Summit residents may license their pets from the comfort of their own home.  Residents will need only the current rabies vaccination certificate and a credit card. To license a pet on-line go to: www.lspets.net and follow the prompts for the licensing procedure. After verification of the information entered during the licensing process, a pet license will be mailed directly to the home. All licenses purchased in November and December will be valid for all of 2010. 

Residents may still license their pets in person, or by mail, by taking a copy of the pet’s current rabies vaccination certificate and proof of the pet’s sterilization (if applicable) to the Animal Control Facility at 1991 SE Hamblen Road or City Hall at 220 SE Green Street. By mail residents need to provide a copy of the pet’s current rabies vaccination certificate, complete with a return mailing address and phone number, along with a check or money order made payable to “City of Lee’s Summit” sent to:

Who Needs a Lee’s Summit Pet License? - Lee’s Summit City Ordinance requires all dogs and cats, over 6 months of age kept within the City Limits to be licensed annually. Furthermore, pet license tags, along with rabies vaccination tags, must be displayed on a collar worn by the pet when the pet is outside. Violators can be cited for failure to display a current license and rabies tag with a minimum $75.00 fine for the first offense. Failure to license your pet can result in a minimum $150.00 fine for the first offense.

How Much Does It Cost to License My Pet?

Spayed / Neutered Pets      $10.00 Annually

                                                  $50.00 Lifetime (pet must be micro-chipped & license only available at Animal Control or City Hall, not on-line)

Unaltered Pets                      $45.00 Annually
