Second Amended Charter

While the Charter as a whole was adopted immediately upon the citizens’ vote, there were two areas where later effective dates were included in the recommendations: 

·      Section 3.13.  Legislative Procedures, subsections (e) and (f), regarding the reading and approval of ordinances, to be effective July 1, 2017; and,

·      Chapter 4. Mayor, to be effective after the April 2018 election for Mayor. 

In the following Charter, changes to these sections are shown in red, with a footnote containing an explanation.  The Charter will be updated again after each of the two effective dates.

Beginning with the start of the new school year on Aug. 17, 2016, the recycling bins located in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District parking lots will now be designated for school and student use only.

The City of Lee’s Summit has recently been made aware of changes in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District’s recycling program.  In July, the district’s recycling vendor provided notification that they will no longer offer a districtwide rebate program.  This was a successful program previously offered to the district.  The district has requested residents discontinue utilization of the outdoor drop-off recycle bins located at the Lee’s Summit R-7 parking lots  Following the closure of the City of Lee’s Summit’s recycling centers in Feb. 2016, many Lee’s Summit residents had been utilizing the drop-off recycle bins located at Lee’s Summit R-7 School District parking lots located throughout the community.

Residents can find alternate drop-off recycling locations by visiting RecycleSpot.org.
