Saturday October 8, 2011 the police department will host the Lee’s Summit Safe City Celebration event sponsored by RED Development from 10 to 4 pm. at the Summit Fair shopping center in Lee’s Summit. Summit Fair is conveniently located at the southeast corner of Interstate 470 and Highway 50, just east of Summit Woods Crossing.  The goal of the event is to heighten personal safety and crime prevention awareness, as well as strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. The event will feature an assortment of display booths from both police and fire showcasing specialized units and equipment from each department.

Additional participants will be assisting agencies such as Missouri Search and Rescue, military recruiters including an Army National Guard rock climbing wall, Missouri Department of Transportation heavy equipment display, and a car show specializing in classic police cruisers. There will be other activities for children such as free face painting and certified car seat technicians to educate and answer questions about proper installation of child safety seats.  Several area non-profits will also be on hand with give-a-ways and safety information for the public.

The Safe City Celebration event is free of charge and open to the public. Download Flier.
