Vendors wishing to sell fireworks in the city limits are required to apply for a “Fireworks Sales” permit from the City of Lee’s Summit.  The City’s Planning and Development Department will be accepting applications between 8:00 a.m. April 1 and 5:00 p.m. April 5.

City ordinance limits the number of allowable fireworks sale permits to 20 to be issued to not-for-profit organizations.  19 of those not-for-profit organizations are required to be located within the boundaries of Lee’s Summit or the R-7 School District, while one is reserved for a national not-for-profit with an office located within the city limits.  Applicants will draw a number upon receipt of the application and be selected by a lottery system.

For more details, download the application and instructions or contact the City of Lee’s Summit Planning & Development Department at 969-1600.
