Save the Date: RecycleFEST is Oct. 11

In celebration of America Recycles Day, residents have an opportunity to recycle a variety of usual and unusual items in a single location at the City’s second semi-annual RecycleFEST from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 11, in the Lee’s Summit City Hall parking lot, 220 SE Green St.
There will be the recycling of the following items:

Community Awareness and Citizen Participation Opportunities for CDBG Five-Year Consolidated Plan

The City of Lee’s Summit will have the first set of events in September and October to raise community awareness about the Consolidated Plan process and provide opportunities for citizens to identify unmet community needs to address during the next five years. The Consolidated Plan process, as required by HUD, is structured to engage the entire community to identify, prioritize, and devise strategies to meet critical, unmet needs with resources available to the community.

Tudor Road Ribbon-Cutting-Sept. 26

Help us celebrate the completion of Phase I Tudor Road Improvements, Douglas to Main, during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sept. 26.

Temporary Road Closure: Beginning Sept. 17

NW Blue Parkway between NW Colbern Road and NW Astor Street will be temporarily closed to traffic starting on Wed., Sept. 17, 2014, weather permitting. The road is scheduled to remain closed until Oct. 17, 2014. The temporary road closure is necessary for some reconstruction of NW Blue Parkway to join the recently constructed new alignment with the existing road that will remain in place.

Another temporary road closure associated with this project, Colbern Road between MO 350 Hwy and Douglas, has re-opened to traffic.

Mayor Randy Rhoads Presents Annual State of the City Address on Sept. 11

The community is invited to hear a message about City accomplishments and plans for the future during the annual State of the City address presented by Mayor Randy Rhoads at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 11, in the Council Chambers of Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green Street, Lee’s Summit.
