Admission fees into Legacy Park, Gamber and Harris Park Community Centers will be reduced to half price on all days the National Weather Service issues Excessive Heat Warnings for the months June, July and August. During business hours, Mid-Continent Libraries are also good cooling centers. Call United Way 2-1-1 for assistance or information about public cooling centers.

Factual Error Regarding Ted White Settlement Offer

The City of Lee’s Summit would like to clear up a factual error that was reported in the news media regarding the City’s settlement with Ted White. In recent articles, a statement has been made that White’s lawyers offered to settle the case for $10 million and that the City refused, costing taxpayers an additional $5.5 million.

City Staff Prepares Ordinance for New City Council District Boundaries

During the July 21st Lee’s Summit City Council meeting, the City Council directed staff to prepare an ordinance establishing the proposed new boundaries for the four City Council Districts.

District 1 Open Forum ~ Saturday, July 23, 2011

Lee's Summit Seeks Input of Residents, Business Owners & Individuals Working in the City to Help Guide Branding Process

The City of Lee’s Summit has partnered with North Star Destination Strategies to develop a community “Brand” for marketing the community to visitors, residents and businesses. Toward this end, North Star developed a customized Lee's Summit Community Survey. Once an individual begins the electronic survey he or she will not be able to come back to it; so please allow 15 minutes before beginning the survey. Only one person per computer/IP address will be allowed.

The survey can be found electronically or as a PDF on the "Main" page of the City's Web site, cityofls.net. Printed surveys will also be available at the Gamber Center, 4 SE Independence Ave., Lee’s Summit. Please return completed paper forms of the survey to the Gamber Center or the Receptionist Desk at Lee's Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green St., Lee's Summit. Surveys must be completed and submitted electronically or in paper form by July 26.
