Solid Waste Update & Online Citizen Survey

During its March 12 meeting, the City Council directed staff to execute a contract with ETC Institute to complete a solid waste citizen survey regarding continuation of the City’s environmental programming after the City’s municipal landfill closes.  The landfill is currently expected to reach its permitted capacity in late 2017 or early 2018.  The City’s ancillary environmental programs such as yard waste, compost, mulch, drop-off recycling centers, Household Hazardous Waste, RecycleFEST, Stream Team, and more are financially supported by landfill tipping fees.  When the landfill closes, the revenue source for the City’s environmental programs will discontinue.
