Date/Time Change for City Council Meetings

Beginning on October 2, City Council meetings will be held on Tuesday evenings instead of Thursdays. All meetings will begin at 6 p.m.

Discussions Continue Regarding Exergonix Proposal

Discussions between the City of Lee’s Summit and Don Nissanka, President and CEO, Exergonix are continuing beyond the May 31, 2011 closing date for the subject 83-acre property owned by Pfizer. A request to extend the closing date to June 15, 2011 has been made to Pfizer.

May is National Bike Month!

The City’s new Livable Streets Advisory Board is encouraging everyone to participate in Bike Week May 16 – 23.  Here are just a few ideas of how to get involved:

Historic Preservation Month Celebration in May

Citizens in Lee’s Summit will join thousands of individuals across the country to celebrate National Preservation Month in May. In our community, the observance began with a proclamation in honor of “May Preservation Month.”

National Public Works Week Celebration

To celebrate National Public Works Week, May 15 - 21, the Lee’s Summit Public Works and Water Utilities departments will host their Annual Big Truck & Equipment Show at the Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport, 2751 NE Douglas St., on Saturday May 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Electronics Recycling Event on May 7

An Electronics Recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 7 in the east parking lot of the Lee’s Summit High School, 400 SE Blue Parkway.  Some electronic products contain hazardous and toxic materials, making it important to properly dispose of electronic waste to avoid being placed in a landfill.
