Human Relations Commissioners Discuss Culture, Share Ideas in Lee’s Summit

Promoting cultural awareness and harmony was the thrust of the Metro Human Relations Commission (HRC) Forum hosted by the Lee’s Summit Human Relations Commission on Monday, April 28, at the Gamber Center.

“This was an excellent opportunity for the members of some of the smaller metropolitan area Human Relations Commissions to talk about activities and programs in their cities used to cultivate cultural education and harmony,” said Dr. Emmanuel Ngomsi, the chairperson of Lee’s Summit’s HRC. “The forum was also an opportunity to learn from each other,’’ said Dr. Ngomsi.

Ideal Time to Purchase Energy Star Appliances

Residents in need of a new washer, refrigerator, or other energy star certified appliances, might want to purchase them this weekend. That’s because the City of Lee’s Summit is participating in the “Show Me Green Sales Tax Holiday” that exempts city and state sales taxes on energy star certified new appliances from April 19 through April 25, 2014.

Temporary Road Closure - SW 2nd St.

SW 2nd Street between SW Blue Parkway and SW Hillcrest Lane will be temporarily closed to traffic for stormwater infrastructure improvements and street repairs starting on Mon., April 21, 2014, weather permitting.
