Pre-Treatment of Residential Streets to Begin Wednesday Morning

With snow in the forecast on the afternoon of New Year’s Day, the City’s snow removal crews will begin pre-treating streets with rock salt at 9:30 a.m. on January 1, 2014. According to the forecast, additional snow accumulation of less than one inch is likely Wednesday night in the metropolitan area. Another shift is scheduled to work Wednesday night into Thursday morning, Jan. 2, to plow and re-treat streets


City’s Crews Re-Treating and Plowing Primary Streets on Christmas Eve

The City of Lee’s Summit has five snow plow operators re-treating primary streets along with spot plowing today, Dec. 24, as necessary, throughout the community. This operation will continue until the primary streets are re-treated and plowed. Partly sunny skies with a high of 28 degrees is forecast for the area today, which will assist in the melting of the ice under the snow pack.

Residential Streets Plowed

The City of Lee’s Summit’s snow removal crews have plowed residential streets and will now concentrate on treating those roads with rock salt on Sunday night, Dec. 22. This will provide some traction control as well as the opportunity for the salt to begin to melt the ice. However, residents are reminded to use caution when driving and walking on pavement.

City’s Crews Plowing Residential Streets

Once the snowfall ended at 3 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, the City’s snow removal crews began plowing primary and secondary streets throughout Lee’s Summit.  Currently, snow removal crews are plowing single lane access on residential streets, an operation that began at 7 a.m. today.

City of Lee’s Summit Winter Weather Response Update

With snow, freezing rain and sleet forecast before 2 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 22, the City of Lee’s Summit’s crews continuously treated primary and secondary streets throughout the day on Saturday, Dec. 21.  Tonight, crews will continue to monitor road conditions as the wintery mix moves into Lee’s Summit and the entire metropolitan area.  Snow is expected to begin around 10 p.m. and could be heavy at times accompanied by wind gusts as high as 21 mph.
