City Crews Preparing for Slick Conditions During Morning Commute on Thursday, Jan. 11

City crews are scheduled to treat roadways before, during and after a winter storm scheduled to move through the area beginning Thursday, Jan. 11. The storm is expected to begin as rain, and as a cold front moves through the area and temperatures drop rapidly, rain-saturated roadways are expected to freeze. Slick conditions can be expected for the morning commute, and freezing rain, sleet and snow are all possible throughout the morning. While low ice/snow totals are expected, low temperatures will limit the effectiveness of de-icing materials.
