City’s Crews Preparing Equipment for Possible Snow Early Wednesday

In preparation for the potential snowfall forecast for early Wednesday, Jan. 30, the City of Lee’s Summit’s snow removal crews are preparing equipment for the winter storm. Pre-treatment is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 29, provided the rain moves out of the area which will prevent the deicing materials from washing off roadways.

Chocolate Crawl: Free Treats & Downtown Shopping

Start at 10 a.m. at City Hall for Candy Bars from the Mayor


Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street is hosting its sixth annual Chocolate Crawl from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in Downtown Lee’s Summit, Mo. Everyone is invited to pick up a Chocolate Crawl map at Lee’s Summit City Hall, then follow the balloons to participating Downtown businesses, where they can enjoy a variety of free chocolate treats (while supplies last) and shop for Valentine’s Day gifts.

New this year is the addition of City Hall as a Chocolate Crawl stop from 10 a.m. to noon. To celebrate the launch of the new community brand, Lee’s Summit Mayor Randy Rhoads will hand out full-sized candy bars from 10 a.m. to noon to the first 500 adults at City Hall, 220 S.E. Green St., Lee’s Summit. There also is an opportunity to see the new brand campaign and items with the new logo.

City’s Crews Will Pre-treat Streets Early on Saturday, Jan. 12

In preparation for the potential snowfall forecast for Saturday, Jan. 12, the City of Lee’s Summit’s snow removal crews will begin pre-treating streets at 7 a.m. in the morning. A winter storm system moving across the region Saturday evening and early overnight will bring the potential for flurries and light snow. The City’s crews will continue to monitor the weather and adjust snow removal operations as needed.

City's Crews Will Pre-treat Streets Early on Saturday, Jan. 5

In preparation for the snowfall forecast for Saturday, Jan. 5, the City of Lee’s Summit’s snow removal crews will pre-treat primary streets at 3 a.m. in the morning and slick spots as necessary during the day. With light snowfall forecast, the snow removal operation is expected to consist of rock salt treatment only.
