Hiring range begins mid to upper $30’s annually DOQ plus an excellent benefit package.
Primary duties include inspecting building construction; writing reports; responding to questions from the public and contractors; maintaining current knowledge of building codes and approved construction practices/materials; appearing in court for ordinance violations; and performing related work as required.
Minimum education is high school diploma or equivalency with four years in a related field. An Associate’s Degree in a related field can substitute for 2 years of experience. A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field can substitute for 4 years of experience. A construction, architectural or engineering-related degree is preferred. A valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to obtain ICC Building Inspector Certification (Residential and Commercial) within 12 months of employment. Skills desired are excellent oral and written communications, knowledge of common office software, knowledge of International Building Codes, along with the ability to interact courteously with the public during stressful situations.
