Wi-Fi Lee's Summit
The Wi-Fi Lee's Summit network brings free, high-speed, wireless internet to downtown Lee's Summit. Users within the coverage area can connect to Wi-Fi Lee's Summit by choosing the SSID LSWiFi from their computer's list of available wireless networks. Wi-Fi Lee's Summit provides each user two hours of free internet connection per day.
The first phase of Wi-Fi Lee's Summit will reach downtown Lee's Summit with a twelve-block coverage area by the end of 2008. Coverage will extend from SE Jefferson Street to SE Green Street and SE 2nd Street to SE 5th Street. More areas of the city may be included in later stages of the project. Wi-Fi Lee's Summit was created and funded through a partnership between Lee’s Summit Downtown Main Street, Lee’s Summit Chamber of Commerce, Lee’s Summit Economic Development Council and the City of Lee’s Summit. Grant funding was also provided to help get the project started through the Truman Heartland Community Foundation. Internet services are provided through a partnership with Time Warner Cable of Kansas City.
Wi-Fi Lee's Summit depends on local businesses who host repeaters. Repeaters are small electronic devices that extend the range of the Wi-Fi Lee's Summit signal. Find out more about hosting a repeater.
