City of Lee’s Summit Approves MOU with John Knox Village for land to locate a new Fire Station No. 3

At its Nov. 3 meeting, the Lee’s Summit City Council approved a Memorandum of Understanding by and between the City and John Knox Village for the terms and conditions associated with the potential transfer of property located on NW Pryor Road for use as a new Fire Station No. 3.

This is a 2.28-acre plot of undeveloped land on the west side of Pryor Road.

Lee’s Summit is Best Place to Live

Congratulations Lee’s Summit on making Money Magazine’s list of Best Places to Live 2016 ranking as the best place to live in the state of Missouri and 43 on the list of Top 50 best places to live in the country.

“We have been fortunate to have engaged citizens throughout our community who are active in our many civic and governmental boards and committees. Their commitment to public service has helped us make good decisions regarding our current challenges and how to build a better community for the future. I am grateful to these individuals and credit should be given to them for this wonderful recognition,” said Lee’s Summit Mayor Randy Rhoads.

Changes to Recycling Availability at Lee's Summit Schools

Beginning with the start of the new school year on Aug. 17, 2016, the recycling bins located in the Lee’s Summit R-7 School District parking lots will now be designated for school and student use only.

City of Lee’s Summit is Latest Community to Raise Tobacco Purchasing & Selling Age to 21

Healthcare advocates and members of the Health Education Advisory Board (HEAB) were pleased as the City of Lee’s Summit became the latest community to approve Tobacco 21 – raising the legal age to purchase and sell tobacco products to 21 within the City.

Lee’s Summit Road Open to Through Traffic

Lee’s Summit Road re-opened to through traffic as of Tuesday, July 12, and all detour signage has been removed. Construction will continue along Lee’s Summit Road as the contractor completes phases 3 and 4 of the project. Drivers are reminded to use caution as the corridor is still an active work zone.
