The Lee’s Summit City Clerk began accepting filings for Municipal offices on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 and will continue until 5 p.m. on January 19, 2010 in the City Clerk’s Office of Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 S.E. Green St., Lee’s Summit.
The City Clerk’s Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. City offices will be closed for the Christmas holiday on December 24 & 25; and for New Year’s Day, on January 1st.
According to State Statutes, the procedure for filing is the following: Candidates filing on the first day will draw a number when they file, and their names will be listed on the ballot based upon the value of the number drawn. After ranking candidates who filed on the first day by lottery, all other candidates who file between December 16, 2009, and January 19, 2010, will be listed on the ballot based on the sequential order of their filing.
As candidates file for Municipal offices, their names will be posted on the City’s Web site. Go to www.cityofls.net, click “Main site” and select City Clerk under the list of departments.
Informational Meeting for Candidates in January
Lee’s Summit City Council candidates will be invited to attend an informational meeting Wednesday, January 6, in Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green St., Lee’s Summit. The purpose of the meeting is to advise the candidates and potential candidates of political sign guidelines, availability of public documents, and conflict of interest forms.
