Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children ages two to 14, due in large part to
the nonuse or improper use of child seats and seat belts, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Lee’s Summit Police Department, which provides car seat installation and education services, on average sees about a 90 percent misuse rate for car seat installations.
Residents can have their child safety seats checked for proper vehicle placement at the Car Safety Seat Educational/Installation Check-up from 6 to 8 p.m. October 22 at the Lee’s Summit Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep car dealership located at 1051 SE Oldham Parkway in Lee’s Summit.
Reservations are required to attend this event.
The Car Safety Seat Educational/Installation Check-up event is sponsored by the Safety and Health Council of Western Missouri and Kansas, the Lee’s Summit Police Department, Lee’s Summit R-7 Parents as Teachers and Lee’s Summit Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep.
