The online survey to help the City evaluate community needs and best use for future allocations of Community Development Block Grant funds in Lee’s Summit is available by clicking on: Survey Document, from Aug. 28 through Sept. 20. A paper version of the survey can also be obtained from the City’s Planning & Development Department, on the 1st Floor of Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green St.
The survey will be available at the following agencies and locations:
- Gamber Center, 4 SE Independence Ave.
- Lee’s Summit library branches, 1000 NE Colbern Rd. and 150 NW Oldham Pkwy.
- Lee’s Summit Social Services, 108 SE 4th St.; ReDiscover, 901 NE Independence Ave.; and other community services agencies.
- Lee’s Summit Housing Authority, 111 SE Grand Ave.; John Calvin Manor, 310 NW Murray Rd.; John Knox Village, Administrative Center, 400 NW Murray Rd.
Public participation in the process is critical. That’s why the City’s Planning & Development Department will host two open houses in the lobby of Lee’s Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green St., from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, August 31, and on Wednesday, September 2. Open house attendees will learn about the CDBG program and its planning process as well as have an opportunity to fill out the survey. The results of the survey and other data will be analyzed and used to create a five-year strategic plan (also known as the Consolidated Plan) as well as subsequent annual Action Plans for the allocation of future funds.
For more information about the CDBG process or to obtain a survey, call the City’s Long-Range Planning Division Manager Heping Zhan at (816) 969-1609.
