City’s Government Access Channel Now on AT&T U-verse TV

The City of Lee’s Summit’s Government Access Channel is now available over AT&T U-verse TV – making us the third community in the area broadcasting programming on the service’s Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) channel.

AT&T U-verse TV customers throughout the Kansas City market area can view Lee’s Summit City TV as well as programming provided by other local communities by selecting Channel 99 on their electronic programming guide (EPG).

Currently, Lee’s Summit City TV provides live and rebroadcast coverage of various public city meetings, such as the Lee’s Summit City Council meetings, as well as information concerning local activities, services, policies, and emergency information.

Currently, Lee’s Summit City TV provides live and rebroadcast coverage of various public city meetings, such as the Lee’s Summit City Council meetings, as well as information concerning local activities, services, policies, and emergency information.

“The AT&T U-verse service is a great addition to the City’s communications efforts and further builds on our practice of transparency in city government by increasing our ability to inform and educate the public about our services and programs in a quick, concise, and up-to-date manner,” said Lee’s Summit City Manager Stephen Arbo.

In October 2007, the City of Lee's Summit began broadcasting City Council meetings live on the City's Government Access Channel on Comcast (7) and Time Warner (2) as well as streaming video on-line.

Since 2004, the City of Lee's Summit has been recording City Council meetings and re-broadcasting them on cable channels. The City Council meetings are re-broadcast on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1 p.m. & 7 p.m.

Additionally, the following committees are also re-broadcast:

  • Finance and Personnel – Tuesdays and Fridays; 10 a.m. & 4 p.m.
  • Public Works – Sundays and Fridays; 1 p.m. & 7 p.m.
  • Community Development – Sundays and Tuesdays; 10 a.m. & 4 p.m.

The news of the U-verse TV broadcasting option comes on the heels of the City’s much anticipated and exciting announcement of a new and improved City Web site, www.cityofls.net, set to launch June 23, 2009. The new Web site will include many new and enhanced features, including electronic newsletters, access to City Council meeting materials, and streaming video of
all Lee’s Summit City TV programming.
