Lee's Summit Seeks Input of Residents, Business Owners & Individuals Working in the City to Help Guide Branding Process

The City of Lee’s Summit has partnered with North Star Destination Strategies to develop a community “Brand” for marketing the community to visitors, residents and businesses. According to North Star CEO Don McEachern, the heart of Lee’s Summit’s brand will be its competitive differentiator -- in other words, what makes the community stand out in the marketplace. And one of the best places to find that figurative nugget of marketing gold is in the hearts and minds of the people who call Lee’s Summit home.

Toward this end, North Star developed a customized Lee's Summit Community Survey. The questionnaire has been carefully crafted to determine the community's strengths, weaknesses, challenges and opportunities. All who live and work in Lee’s Summit are invited and encouraged to participate in this important community-wide initiative.

Surveys can be completed online and submitted electronically from the following link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8PQMGZ3. Once an individual begins the electronic survey he or she will not be able to come back to it; so please allow 15 minutes before beginning the survey. Only one person per computer/IP address will be allowed.

The survey can be found electronically or as a PDF on the "Main" page of the City's Web site, cityofls.net. Printed surveys will also be available at the Gamber Center, 4 SE Independence Ave., Lee’s Summit. Please return completed paper forms of the survey to the Gamber Center or the Receptionist Desk at Lee's Summit City Hall, 220 SE Green St., Lee's Summit. Surveys must be completed and submitted electronically or in paper form by July 26.

“We have partnered with more than 130 communities in 30 states nationwide, and I can’t emphasize enough the importance of insights gleaned from community members,” stressed McEachern. “To learn what makes a community special, you have to go to the people who spend more than just their money and time there. You have to go to the people who spend their lives there.”
