The City of Lee's Summit is designated as an Entitlement Community under the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The grant funds are provided to the City annually to meet the needs of low-to-moderate income individuals and families, to address blight in Lee's Summit or to meet an urgent need. These criteria are referred to as “the Three National Objectives of the CDBG Program”.
The City of Lee’s Summit was awarded $340,946.00 for the 2010-11 program year. The amount of the City’s 2011-2012 CDBG grant has not been announced by HUD.
At the upcoming public hearing, the CDBG Committee will hear funding requests submitted by local government and not-for-profit agencies and organizations, as well as, discuss funding options proposed by City staff. The public hearing will also provide an opportunity for public input. The Committee will approve a funding recommendation for final approval by the full Council. The public hearing will be held:
