City crews will treat streets with rock salt tonight and Saturday, Feb. 26, due to freezing drizzle forecast for our area overnight and into tomorrow. Currently, crews are treating streets in residential areas as a result of the wintery mix received in Lee’s Summit on Thursday.
According to the City’s weather service, Weather or Not, “A couple of weak (weather) disturbances moving across the region will bring the potential for patchy, light, freezing drizzle and flurries into the area overnight and into Saturday.’ ‘Any occasional precipitation will be light in intensity, but a light glaze of ice will be possible with roads and surfaces below freezing tonight.’
‘As light and occasional precipitation continues into the day on Saturday, there may be a change to drizzle or sprinkles as both air and road temperatures rise above freezing.’ ‘Any light precipitation looks to end by Saturday evening.”
