The City of Lee’s Summit’s Public Works Department crews completed the plowing and treating of streets from this week’s snowfall and will prepare for another blast of winter weather forecast to begin Saturday, January 22.
City crews will be back at work on Saturday evening for the snow storm forecast to be in Lee’s Summit by 9 p.m. At this time, the “Weather or Not” weather service map shows Lee’s Summit will receive from 2 – 4 inches of snow.
However, a band of heavy snow is predicted on the north edge of Lee's Summit. This storm system is still in the northwest and the storm movement is still unknown at this time. City crews are scheduled to work this weekend until all streets are plowed and treated.
“Weather or Not” predicts most of the accumulating snow will be between midnight Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday morning. Winds of 10 – 20 miles per hour and cold temperatures will remain a factor in snow removal efforts.
Residents can help crews by removing vehicles from streets to prevent delays in the snow removal process.
The Snow Desk, (816) 969-1870, will be staffed throughout the snow removal operation. Residents can receive updates about the City’s snow removal efforts by e-mail, cell phone text message and Web by visiting: http://local.nixle.com/city/mo/lee’s-summit/ . Nixle is a FREE service.
Residents are also encouraged to stay up-to-date on weather conditions, by listening to radio, watching television weather casts, and going online.
