City Organizes Stream Team Clean-up Event for October 17

In an effort to keep our streams clean of debris, the City of Lee’s Summit Public Works Department is organizing a “Stream Team” to clean up litter along Cedar Creek from Ward Road to Chipman Road. The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 17 and will include the City’s Public Works staff as well as volunteers from the community.


City Hosts Electronics Recycling Event October 10

Properly dispose of unused or end-of-life electronic equipment at the City of Lee’s Summit’s recycling event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on October 10 at Lee’s Summit High School, located near the intersection of Highways 50 and 291.

City's Environmental Slogan Contest Began Sept. 1

Calling all Lee’s Summit businesses! During September 2009, the City of Lee’s Summit will be hosting a contest for local Lee’s Summit businesses to create a slogan that supports the City’s environmental initiatives. The City of Lee’s Summit has a variety of initiatives and programs in place to protect and preserve our environment, such as downtown recycling, electronics recycling, stream team events, rain barrel workshops, Sweep the Summit litter collection events, an Adopt-A-Street program, landfill diversion programs, two drop-off recycling centers, and a household hazardous waste collection facility.
