City Charter - Charter Review Report
Following incorporation in 1877, Lee’s Summit was designated as a 4th Class City and continued as such until 1996 when, at the April election that year, voters adopted a proposed Charter, changing the status to Charter City.
A review of the Charter was conducted by a citizen committee in 2006 and, in November of 2007, proposed amendments to the Charter were approved by the voters. This First Amended Charter is in place today.
